My First Painting

My First Painting

I have always refrained from painting for no reason. Maybe I felt I don’t have the patience for it, which I still don’t have, but I have always loved this art. Music has always been my go-to thing when my mind and heart is not at its place. But it was one of those times where I have to get away from music and find a different hobby. That’s when I stumbled upon painting. It wasn’t an accident may be rubbed upon from someone.

Irrespective of the context, first things in your life always has a special place. So, without any doubt, I thought of painting a script which I liked the most. It wasn’t an original script. But I always admired the way it mimics someone who was a rebellion by pen. His name is Subramania Bharathi. We call him as Mahakavi (The Great Poet).

— Bharathiar

English translation of the above lines

Scouting for food daily to fill up your tummy, gossiping on a lot of short stories, worried and feeling bad about yourself, doing things which hurt others, as time goes getting aged and withering, becoming a victim of terrible accusations. Do you think I would die like this crazy pathetic human being?

– Mahakavi Baharathi

I haven’t gone through all his works, but these lines are one of my favourites. I remind myself of these lines to stay on track. This great poet has a special place in all the hearts of people who speak Tamil (language in which, the original version is written). His moustache, turban and the red dot on his forehead marks his identity for all age groups.

So I tried replicating an art/script which is modernised version of the word தமிழ் (Tamil). Whenever I look into that art, it just reminds me of this great poet. Below is my unedited version of my first painting.
